Connahs Quay Man Kicking for a World First.

Nathan Davies from Connahs Quay, has set his sights on a challenge that will see him become the first person in the world to juggle a football with his feet across an entire country.

Nathan now lives in the United States where he has been coaching football for 13 years and running his own successful coaching school First Kicks

On February 12th 2014, Nathan Davies will start the endurance challenge which will see him juggle a football with his feet across Lesotho, South Africa a total of 208 miles from border to border, he plans to cover around 17-18 miles a day.

Nathan has set a target of raising £10000 for Kick4Life, a charity that uses the power of soccer to provide holistic support to vulnerable youth affected by HIV and AIDS.

Known as the Kingdom in the Sky the entire challenge will take place over 1000 metres above sea level and cover 208 miles of mountainous terrain.

The Kingdom of Lesotho, is a landlocked country, completely surrounded by its only neighbouring country, the Republic of South Africa. It is just over 30,000 km2 (11,583 sq mi) in size and has a population of approximately 2,067,000. About 40% of the population live below the international poverty line of US $1.25 a day. Lesotho has the third highest HIV prevalence in the world (23.6%) and more than 100.000 children have been orphaned by the disease.

Nathan will start his challenge on the east side of Lesotho at the famous Sani Pass 3270 metres above sea level and make his way across the Mountain Kingdom arriving in the capital city Maseru 208 miles later.

Kick4Life is a charity is based at the Football for Hope Centre in Lesotho in southern Africa, they deliver a range of projects aimed at supporting vulnerable boys and girls, including health education and HIV prevention, voluntary HIV testing, life-skills development, mentoring, support towards education & employment, and the chance to enjoy sport.
