Comedian and satirist Matt Forde will bring his latest touring show to Chester this spring.

Defying Calamity will be staged at Storyhouse on Friday 1 May, with tickets priced at £27.

The show follows a period of serious illness for the performer.

After initially believing he had sciatica during the 2023 Edinburgh Fringe, Forde was later diagnosed with cancer and underwent major surgery to remove the base of his spine.

The new tour reflects on finding optimism in difficult circumstances, alongside commentary on the current political landscape.

Forde is known for his work across television, radio and podcasting, including appearances on Spitting Image and Have I Got News For You, as well as co-hosting the podcast British Scandal.

His Political Party podcast, launched in 2013, has featured interviews with senior political figures including Keir Starmer, Tony Blair and Nicola Sturgeon.

Forde also performs live editions of the show in London and hosts additional podcasts covering politics and current affairs.

Following his recovery, he returned to touring and appeared at the Royal Variety Performance after a run at the Edinburgh Fringe.

Defying Calamity is his latest national tour and will visit Chester for one night only.
