Broughton Shopping Park’s ‘Merry Mailbox’ spreads festive cheer

Broughton Shopping Park is calling on the local community to help brighten the festive season for older residents through its heartwarming ‘Merry Mailbox’ initiative.
In partnership with Age Connects North East Wales and Age UK Cheshire, the project aims to collect Christmas cards filled with warm wishes. These will be delivered to older individuals who may feel isolated during the holiday season.
Unsealed cards in blank envelopes can be posted for free in the ‘Merry Mailbox’, located at the entrance to the Centre Management Suite between Card Factory and Costa Coffee. The initiative runs until Sunday, 15th December, ensuring the cards reach recipients in time for Christmas.
Alan Pruden-Barker, Broughton Shopping Park’s centre manager, said:
“While Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year for many of us, sadly for some in our community it can feel isolating. We hope our ‘Merry Mailbox’ will help bring smiles and ensure no one feels alone.”
The initiative has been warmly welcomed by charity partners. Maria Heron, Deputy CEO of Age Connects North East Wales, said:
“The ‘Merry Mailbox’ is a lovely initiative, and we know it will bring well-needed Christmas cheer to our clients in Flintshire and Wrexham.”
Christine McMahon, Head of Services at Age UK Cheshire, added:
“For many older people, Christmas can be the most isolating time of the year. Just one card could make all the difference for someone spending the holiday alone.”
Residents are encouraged to take part and make someone’s Christmas a little brighter.
