Anwyl is working on plans to develop 140 affordable homes next to the new Croes Atti welsh language school near Flint.

The proposed scheme – in which 100% of the homes built will be affordable – will wrap around the Ysgol Gymraeg Croes Atti playing fields and will include a new road access point for the estate from Ffordd Dewi, with a potential second entrance at  Rhodfa Caradog.

The plans are detailed in a pre-application screening request from Anwyl for the 5.6 hectare site, which asks Flintshire County Council to consider whether an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is necessary for the site.

The land is currently undeveloped, with hedgerows criss-crossing the fields and a brook running through the site. There is also a public right of way.

The document commits that Anwyl will incorporate existing key features into the site but at this stage does not detail the housing mix.

It recommends that no EIA is required, however Flintshire County Council’s planning department have until December 9 to decide whether to order an EIA or allow the development to move on to the planning stage.
