Deeside Assembly Member  Carl Sargeant is seeking urgent clarification on consultation dates so that as many residents as possible get to have their say on proposed improvements to the Deeside Corridor.

Dates for public consultation events on the £200m major improvement works to ease congestion on the A55/A494 dual carriageway through Deeside have been published on Facebook.

A letter sent, to a member of the Flintshire Local Access forum on March 3 by the Welsh Government transport infrastructure division, has been posted onto a Facebook group set up to discuss the A494 and future improvement work.

The Letter confirms the start date of the A494/A55/A548 Deeside corridor improvement scheme consultation as Monday, March 13.

It also reveals four public events which have been scheduled to take place place the following week, two events on the 21st and 22nd of March will be held at Ewloe Social Club and two on the 23rd, 24th March at Coleg Cambria Deeside.

The comment posted on Facebook along with the Welsh Government revealing the four dates says;

‘It seems that Welsh Government planners have brought forward the date when their latest proposals for Flintshire trunk roads will be unveiled to the public. For folks trying to balance holidays and domestic life with a determination to keep informed on something that will have a lifetime impact on households throughout Flintshire, some will say, this is far too little notice.’

Alyn and Deeside AM and Welsh Government Minister, Carl Sargeant who was unaware of the consultation dates, said:

“This is a really important consultation for people in Deeside and North Wales. I’ve written to the Cabinet Secretary for Economy and Infrastructure’s office today seeking to confirm the dates as soon as possible in order for residents to be fully consulted.”
