An interview is a format of communication with a potential employer, during which the most unexpected question can be asked.

But it is the answer to it that can become decisive as to whether you will be hired or not.

The point of asking unexpected and awkward questions is to confuse the interviewee and see their reaction.

However, when it comes to an interview for a programmer or server engineer position it is better to prepare in advance.

The following are several of the most difficult and tricky questions, one of which may be asked during the interview.

When it comes to Android developer interview questions, you will hardly expect these questions among them.

But the employer can use the opportunity to see your human qualities and logical thinking in addition to your professional skills.

So, arm yourself with answers to unexpected questions.

  1. What are your weaknesses?

Be prepared for the fact that the employer does not want to hear a tearful story about what weaknesses you have. The employer wants to know how you turned a weakness into an advantage. Alternatively, before the interview, analyze the company’s activities, goals, and values. Determine what they value in their employees. And if you can connect all these aspects in one answer, consider it a success.

  1. Where do you imagine yourself to be in five years?

If this question is asked among automation interview questions and backend engineer interview questions, most likely they want to hear an answer related to the perspective of activity at their company. Also, your answer should reflect the desire for development, and the goals should ideally coincide with the goals of the company. The wrong answer is to say that in five years you do not see yourself working for this company. This is one of the most important questions.

  1. Tell us about a time when you made a mistake.

Since we are all human and cannot work without making mistakes, you will have to share your story. But when telling your story, consider that your interlocutor really wants to hear that you have the courage to admit your mistakes without blaming others; you made a mistake because you did not have the necessary knowledge; what experience have you gained from this situation? Therefore, think about what exactly you could share so that this story plays a positive role in your interview.

  1. A series of questions “If….”

These are questions that have nothing to do with professional principles. For example: If you had a superpower, what would it be? If you had a million, where would you spend it? There are two reasons why employers ask these questions. The first is they just want to see how you get out of an unexpected situation, and second, they want to evaluate your life values and priorities.

  1. What did you dislike about your previous job?

Prepare for this question so you don’t fall into a verbal trap. For example, it is worth emphasizing exactly what achievements you had at your previous job, and what experience you gained. Then you can indicate an objective reason for changing jobs and it is better if it is in favor of the company in which you are currently interviewing. Remember not to speak negatively about previous management.

  1. Tell us about yourself

Usually, when asking this question, the employer wants to hear more about your professional side than what your zodiac sign is, what kind of cuisine you prefer, etc. You can talk about your education, and key successes over the last period. And also — share some special cases that you are currently working on. That is, you should emphasize your professionalism and, at the same time, show that you are a multifaceted personality.
