Toys R Us enters administration – Broughton & Sealand stores at risk

Jobs are under threat as Toys R Us has entered administration this morning.

Administrators firm Moorfields has been appointed to orderly wind-down the company’s store portfolio, while still apparently seeking a buyer.

Stores will continue to stay open for the time being with remaining stock sold off, likely subject to special promotions and discounts.

Stores could be subject to closure without notice and the public are being told to redeem gift cards and vouchers as soon as possible.

Simon Thomas, Moorfields partner, said: “We will be conducting an orderly wind-down of the store portfolio over the coming weeks.

“All stores remain open until further notice and stock will be subject to clearance and special promotions.”

“The newer, smaller, more interactive stores in the portfolio have been outperforming the older warehouse-style stores that were opened in the 1980’s and 1990’s.”

Chester’s Sealand road store is a large warehouse style shop, whereas the Broughton shopping park store is one of the smaller units.
