M56 – Major crash closes in both directions near Warrington

The M56 is currently closed in both directions near Warrington after a major crash involving two HGV’s and three cars.

One lorry is believed to have crashed through the central reservation.

The collision happened just after 4pm, Cheshire Fire Service say Firefighters removed one man from a heavy goods vehicle following and assisted paramedics with other casualties.

Police closed the M56 in both directions and the Air Ambulance attended.

Cheshire police tweeted at 6pm:  between J9-10 will remain closed in both directions for some time. Please avoid the area.
