North Wales Fire Service are holding several organised firework and bonfire displays across the region, including the ever-popular public event at Deeside Leisure Centre.

Firefighters want more people to go along to properly organised displays to minimise the risk of injury and damage to property.

Alyn and Deeside AM Carl Sargeant said:

“Unfortunately, in past years we have seen people sustain injuries, some serious, while setting fireworks off in their own gardens.

“While it’s good fun, it can be extremely dangerous and have disastrous consequences, particularly if people have been drinking alcohol.

“Bonfires can also get out of control easily, all of which puts extra strain on our emergency services year after year.

“I would urge people to keep safety in mind while enjoying themselves this year and go along to properly managed public events wherever possible.

“If you do decide to set off fireworks at home, please make sure you follow the detailed advice from the fire service to make sure everyone has fun safely.”

The Deeside display starts at 7.30pm on Tuesday, November 5.
