The opportunity for the show arose after the Youth Dance Company performed “Ripple”, a piece choreographed by Coleg Cambria tutor Jamie Jenkins, at the North Wales Platform of Community Dance at Galeri in Caernarfon earlier this year.

Following this, the Company were asked to perform on the same bill as NYDW at Clwyd Theatr Cymru.

Representatives from the local authority and the Arts Council of Wales were in attendance, as well as friends and family of the performers who all turned out to support the dancers.

This demonstrates the huge impact Youth Dance Company has made since it was formed at Coleg Cambria Yale in September 2011.

Youth Dance Company offers remarkable opportunities for young people to develop their dance technique skills as well as performance prospects; they have represented Wales at BIG DANCE UK, as well as performing during the NEW Dance Wrexham XPLODE project, Flintshire DanceFest’ 13 and at the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod 2013.

Jamie Jenkins said:

“We are thrilled to be able to provide opportunities for young dancers to develop their skills. I cannot express how proud I was of each and every one of the twelve dancers that performed. The quality and standard of their work is outstanding; these dancers are the future of North Wales.”

The next organised performance is in the Clwyd Room at Clwyd Theatr Cymru on Tuesday 10th December when the Coleg Cambria Yale group will work with the newly formed Flintshire Youth Dance Company to provide another fabulous evening of dance.

Youth Dance Company meets at Coleg Cambria Yale every Monday 4.30pm-6pm and Flintshire Youth Dance Company meets every Monday 7pm-8.30pm
