Wrexham Police FC to play final match after raising £65,000 for local charities

A North Wales Police charity football team will take to the field one last time on 14th September, marking the end of an incredible fundraising journey.
Formed in 2022 to break down barriers and show the human side behind the badge, Wrexham Police FC, has since raised over £65,000 for charities including hospices, children’s wards, homeless groups, food banks, and domestic abuse safety units.
Over the past few years, the team has built a widespread following both locally and internationally, gaining celebrity supporters such as Ryan Reynolds, Rob McElhenney, and Michael Sheen.
For their final match, the team will face former Wrexham players — the Wrexham Legends — in a special event supporting the Wrexham Children’s Ward.
The game will take place at Airbus, Broughton, with a 3pm kick-off. It will be a true community event, and everyone is encouraged to come along. For those unable to attend, donations can be made online.
Sgt Dave Smith said: “This team started as an idea to break down barriers and show the caring side of policing, but it has grown into something much bigger than we ever imagined. We are proud of the support we’ve received from the community and beyond, and we hope this final game will be our biggest celebration yet — raising funds that will make a real difference to children and families who need it most.”
