Why colourful bikes are popping up in Buckley

Buckley town centre has been transformed with a trail of upcycled bicycles as part of the Bikes in Bloom celebration.
Running from Monday 11 August to Saturday 16 August, the project features old bikes decorated in recent community workshops, now on display across the town.
The trail aims to showcase creativity, bring people together and promote sustainability by giving unwanted bicycles a new purpose.
Local businesses, community groups and residents have contributed to the displays, which use recycled materials to cut waste and reduce carbon emissions.

The initiative has been supported by Flintshire County Council’s Town Centre Activities and Events Grant, with funding from the UK Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund.
Bikes in Bloom will culminate in a Summer Market at Refurbs Buckley on Saturday 16 August. The market will feature locally sourced produce, handmade crafts and sustainable goods.
Organisers say the event is a chance to celebrate Buckley’s community spirit while highlighting the benefits of reusing and upcycling.
