Update on water disruption following Broughton main repair

Welsh Water says the work to re-fill the network in Flintshire is going as planned following the repair of a major water main in Broughton.
The company expects some properties to regain their water supply this afternoon and this evening, with full restoration across the network expected by Sunday afternoon.
As supplies return, Welsh Water has warned residents they may see discoloured water. This is common after a burst of this nature as increased flow through the network stirs up sediment.
The company said water may appear cloudy or brown for a period. This is usually caused by particles of iron or manganese which have settled over time in cast iron water mains.

Welsh Water said the only way to clear it is to run the tap for a few minutes, and if the problem continues, to turn off the tap for 20 minutes before trying again.
Although the water may not look pleasant, Welsh Water said it is unlikely to be harmful to health. The company has advised against doing laundry while the discolouration is present as it may stain clothes.
The water company confirmed it continues to support vulnerable customers while also supplying two hospitals and 20 care homes. More than 900,000 litres of bottled water were distributed between Thursday and Friday.
Bottled water stations remain open at:
Jade Jones Pavilion, Flint CH6 5ER
Park & Ride Car Park, Deeside Industrial Park, CH5 2NY
Car Park at County Hall, Mold CH7 6NF
Welsh Water is asking customers to only take what they need and to check on elderly or vulnerable family members, friends or neighbours to ensure they have bottled water.
The company has confirmed compensation arrangements and issued an open letter to customers.
