Two weeks until £1 bus travel starts for young people

Young people aged between 16 and 21 will soon be able to travel on participating bus services for just £1 per single journey.
The Welsh Government pilot scheme begins on 1 September and also includes £3 day tickets for unlimited travel.
To use the scheme, passengers must show a free mytravelpass to the driver as proof of age. Passes can be applied for online.
Cabinet Secretary for Transport and North Wales Ken Skates said: “This scheme will make a real difference to young people across Wales, and will allow them to make journeys for work, education and leisure at a discounted price.
“I would encourage those who don’t yet have a mytravelpass to apply so they can take full advantage of the scheme when it begins on 1 September.”
The scheme is being supported with £15m over two financial years, 2025-26 and 2026-27, as part of the Welsh Government Budget deal with the Leader of the Welsh Liberal Democrats Jane Dodds.
A further £7m will extend the scheme to children aged 5 to 15 from 3 November.
