Many motorists who parked their cars at Talacre beach car park on Sunday are facing thousands of pounds worth of repair bills after their vehicles were semi-submerged in seawater due to the expected high tide.

Police, Coastguard rescue officers, and Rhyl’s inshore lifeboat were all called to the car park where between 30 and 40 cars had been overcome by the high tide.

Reports say a sign warning motorists the carpark was closed due the impending high tide was attached to the carpark gate which was unlocked and open wide.

Most of the vehicles moved off on their own accord following the tide receding to a safe level however, as many as 20 around cars say Rhyl Coastguard needed assistance with trucks taking them off the car park. Some cars were written off there and then.
