A Shotton man has been jailed for six years after taking sexualised images of a child and being found with thousands of indecent images.

Nicholas Cummins, 39, of Hafan Glyd, Shotton, took images of the child partially clothed at a derelict former hospital site in Denbigh, telling her the images would be used to win a competition.
Following police investigations, he was found to have more than 8,000 indecent images of children on his devices, including images of two other victims.
Despite admitting making indecent images, he denied inciting a child to engage in sexual activity but was convicted by a jury at Mold Crown Court in January.
He appeared before Mold Crown Court on Monday, 10 March, where was jailed for six years, in addition to an 18-month period on licence.
Cummins will serve two-thirds of his custodial sentence before he can be referred to the Parole Board and will adhere to sex offenders register notification requirements. He was also made the subject of an indefinite sexual harm prevention order.
Investigating officer, DC Catrin-Mai Jones from the Central Child Protection team said: “I commend the bravery of the victim in coming forward to police, and for her support throughout the entirety of the investigation.
“Cummins showed no true remorse, no emotion and no understanding for the lasting impact on his victim, which has been significant.
“This outcome reflects our commitment to bringing sexual offenders to justice and ensuring that victims and children are heard and protected.
“I hope this case will encourage others who have been subject to a sexual offence to come forward and serves as a reminder to any offenders of these despicable crimes that they will face the consequences of their actions – no matter how and when a sexual offence occurred.”
