The rangers at Dee Park have been named finalists in North Wales Police’s ‘Your Community, Your Choice’ funding bid, with public voting now open to help secure the funding they need.

Care and Repair North East Wales Ltd, which oversees the Dee Park Community Woodland project, is seeking support for initiatives that encourage local engagement with nature and green spaces.

The funding would help expand family days, volunteering sessions, school visits, and nature-based workshops, as well as support a recently built community vegetable garden.

A spokesperson for the project said: “Our goal is to create a sustained presence within the park where residents can come together, enjoy their local environment, and gain a sense of pride and ownership over the green spaces in their community.”

Plans also include outdoor cookery classes to promote healthy eating and food preparation skills.

Voting is open until 14 March 2025. Supporters can vote for Dee Park’s project through the following links:

The ‘Your Community, Your Choice’ scheme is funded by the Police and Crime Commissioner for North Wales and North Wales Police, using money recovered from criminals.

The initiative supports projects that improve local communities and safety.
