Shock exit for Nomads director of football Mark McGregor
Mark McGregor gap Connah’s Quay director of football has left the club, details behind the reasons for his departure are unclear, the announcement came via a short statement on the clubs website.
“After five and a half years at the helm, we are sad to announce the departure of Mark McGregor as Director of Football.
Mark joined the Club ahead of the 2009-10 season and amongst his many highlights, were consecutive second tier league titles in the Huws Gray Alliance in both the 2010-11 and 2011-12 seasons.
The Club, players, supporters and officials would like to put on record their appreciation for all the hard work and dedication he has shown in this time and wish him every success in his future management career.”
Chester-born central defender Mark, joined from Altrincham as player-manager in July 2009.
Mark started his career as a Wrexham trainee, signing a pro contract in July 1995 and made more than 250 Football League appearances before a free transfer to Burnley.
Further spells with Blackpool and Port Vale saw him reach 423 League appearances in total.
Since his step into management, Mark has overseen The Nomads win two successive Huws Gray Alliance titles and narrowly miss out on Europa League qualification.
