Saltney: Firefighters called to a blaze at Lancashire Fuels 4U …. again!

Crews from Deeside, Chester, Holywell, Rhyl and Wrexham were all called upon to tackle a large fire at Lancashire Fuels 4U on River Lane in Saltney today, Tuesday May 13 – the scene of a major fire last year.
Appliances included high volume pumps and two aerial ladders were at the scene of the blaze.
Thick black smoke could be seen from Chester as firefighters set about bringing the blaze under control.
Police warned local residents to close all windows and doors due to the acrid smoke billowing from the site.
At the height of the blaze around 40 people were evacuated from the units close to Lancashire Fuels 4U
North Wales Fire Brigade expect to be at the scene overnight dampening down.
Earlier in the afternoon the Fire Service fire said:
“The fire was reported at 11.39am.
“Four appliances are in attendance including two from Deeside, one from Wrexham and one from Chester.
“Two aerial ladder platforms, from Wrexham and Rhyl, are also at the scene as is a high volume pump.”
The fire is believed to be in an outbuilding at Lancashire Fuels4u it contains recycling material.
