A product recall has been issued for counterfeit Pop Mart Labubu plush toys after they were found to pose a serious choking risk.

The Office for Product Safety and Standards said the toys, sold in four different designs, were seized from retailers and recalled from end users.

Tests found the toys’ feet, hands and eyes could detach with minimum force, producing small parts that could cause a child to choke if swallowed. The required safety markings and labelling were also missing.

The products were distributed by:

Keystore Bathgate, EH48 3EP

Livi News, The Centre, Livingston, EH54 6NB

The Gothenburg, EH47 0JB

Broxburn MiniMarket, EH52 5EF

The Office for Product Safety and Standards confirmed the toys do not meet the requirements of the General Product Safety Regulations 2005.

A spokesperson said: “Consumers who have purchased the products from the distributors listed above are advised to return them to the store for redress.”
