Pontblyddyn Cricket Club to host charity Duck Race in September

Businesses and social groups across Wrexham areas are being urged to go quackers and get creative for a good cause.
The popular Harry’s Duck Race will return to Pontblyddyn Cricket Club on Sunday, 7 September to help raise funds for Hope House Children’s Hospices.
It is organised by Julia Jones and her family from Wrexham, who launched the event in memory of their beloved son and brother, Harry, who died in his sleep at just four-years-old.
Taking place each September, the event gives participants the chance to buy an extra large plastic duck and dress it up in costume for a Best Dressed Duck competition to be judged by the Mayor.
For just £20, businesses, social groups or even individuals can purchase their yellow manakin and get as imaginative as they like.
The popular event has seen characters from Peaky Blinders, Diana Ross, Spiderman, Batman and even a fiery Welsh Dragon entered. The day will also see traditional small ducks on sale for £1, which will be raced in the River Alyn through a series of heats and eventual final.
The fun day has market stalls, raffles, bar, face painting for the kids, sideshow games and a tasty BBQ too.
