Police witness appeal after M56 collision seriously injures motorcyclist

Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious collision on the M56 near Dunkirk, which left an 80-year-old motorcyclist with serious injuries.
The incident occurred at around 3pm on Wednesday, 12 March, on the eastbound carriageway between junctions 16 and 15.
According to police, the motorbike collided with a ladder that is believed to have fallen from the back of a white Citroen Dispatch van.
Emergency services attended the scene, and the rider, a man from Eccleston, was taken to Aintree Hospital, where he remains in treatment.
The van’s driver, a 28-year-old man from Warrington, stopped at the scene and was spoken to by officers. No arrests have been made, but investigations into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing.
Police are urging anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have dashcam footage from the area at the time, to come forward.
A spokesperson for Cheshire Police said: “We are particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have seen the van before the incident or who may have recorded footage of the collision itself.”
