Police warning over man asking for cash in Chester

Officers in Chester are urging people to be vigilant following reports of suspicious activity involving a man approaching members of the public for money.
Police say a number of incidents have been reported in Chester city centre where a man has asked people for money, claiming he will transfer it back to them via an app. However, the money has not been repaid.
Inspector James Wilson said:
“We would like to reassure residents that we are aware of reports which we believe relate to the same individual asking for money and not repaying it.
“We know people may have transferred this man money or given him cash out of good intentions, so we are asking anyone who believes this has happened to them to get in touch with us.
“We would also urge people not to hand over money in suspicious circumstances.
“You can report information to us via cheshire.police.uk/tell-us or call 101, quoting 25000671658.”
