Police-run bike safety sessions planned across North Wales

North Wales Police is urging motorcyclists to take part in its BikeSafe workshops, which run in September at venues across the region.
The day-long sessions are designed to help riders improve their skills and reduce the risk of collisions. They include a morning of classroom-based theory, focusing on key causes of motorcycle crashes and possible solutions, followed by an observed ride where participants receive individual feedback.
Workshops will take place on 7 September in Llay, 21 September in Colwyn Bay, and 24 September in Porthmadog.
The programme is subsidised by North Wales Police and the North Wales Road Safety partnerships, with a cost of £84 per rider.
A spokesperson said: “Sadly, motorcyclists continue to feature disproportionately in our road traffic collision figures, so with the main aim of reducing the number of bikers being hurt on the roads, these fantastic workshops explore the main riding hazards that motorcyclists face.”
The practical element covers around 60 miles of riding through North Wales and Snowdonia National Park. Rides are conducted on a ratio of no more than one observer to three participants and include regular debriefs.
Sessions run from 9am to 4.45pm and include registration, theory, a lunch break, observed ride, debrief and the issue of a safety pack. Lunch is not provided
