Plans lodged for classic car garage at Hawarden property

Deeside takeaway entrepreneur Tony Pronjaj is seeking permission to build a classic car display garage in Hawarden.
The owner of the popular Master Fryer in Queensferry has submitted plans to Flintshire County Council’s planning department for a single storey display garage with room for 10-15 classic cars at a detached property on Upper Aston Hall Lane in Hawarden.
The garage will be at the bottom of the driveway adjacent to the road, with a hedgerow and boundary fence separating the two. The existing three-car garage near the house will also remain.
It will be a 2.4m high L-shaped structure with a pitched roof designed to complement the house with similar brickwork and slate roofing.
Inside there will be enough room for maintenance to be carried out on each vehicle. Sliding glass doors will allow cars to be viewed and easily driven out. A square area of hard standing will also be installed to provide space to manoeuvre the vehicles when they are driven.
Though it has been called a display garage, it is for personal use. It will no commercial use and no public access.
There are no plans to alter the driveway entrance, no impact on the highway and the documents state the garage will not generate significant traffic. It will be used to store and display cars and maintenance work will be carried out only during daylight hours.
According to the project’s design and access statement: “The proposed luxury car garage is a high-quality development designed to meet the applicant’s needs for a private classic car collection while respecting the character of Upper Aston Hall Lane.”
The application is open for consultation with a determination date set for October 10.
