Over 48,500 young people supported through Wales’ Young Person’s Guarantee

More than 48,500 young people in Wales have received support through the Young Person’s Guarantee, a programme aimed at helping those aged 16-24 access education, training, apprenticeships, or employment.
Since its launch, over 6,000 young people have progressed into employment, with more than 700 starting their own businesses. The initiative includes tailored support through schemes such as Jobs Growth Wales+, Communities for Work+, and the Young Person’s Start-Up Grant, which has provided funding for 615 new businesses.
Figures show that in 2022, 85.8% of young people in Wales were in education, employment, or training, an increase from 83.7% in 2021. The Welsh Government aims to raise this to at least 90% by 2050.
Minister for Culture, Skills and Social Partnership Jack Sargeant highlighted the impact of the scheme, saying: “Quality support can shape lives and help young people thrive in Wales.”
The initiative will continue to focus on providing young people with skills, training, and employment opportunities, with additional funding allocated for apprenticeships and financial support for students.
