Two In Custody After ‘Robbery’ At Queensferry Costcutters

Man seriously injured in robbery at Queensferry Costcutter store.

 

A man was in custody helping police with enquiries following an alleged robbery at the Costcutter store on Station Road, Queensferry, on Thursday evening.

At the time of the incident a large number of police vehicles and an emergency ambulance were at the scene.

Officers are asking for anyone who saw anything suspicious around 6-7pm tonight regarding the incident to get in touch.

Police have not released any information with regards to a man who received serious injuries during the robbery and was seen outside the store bleeding heavily from a neck wound witnesses say.

A North Wales Police spokesman said:

“North Wales Police are investigating an incident of a robbery at a store on Station Road Queensferry.

The incident happened at approximately 6.30pm on the 8th of December 2016.

Police are appealing for witnesses who may have been in the vicinity of Station Road and the surrounding area between 6-7pm who have may have seen anything suspicious.

North Wales Police have one male person in custody who is helping with our inquiries and inquiries are continuing.

If anyone has any information or has witnessed anything suspicious, please contact the police on 101 (quoting U184620) or contact Mold CID.”

Reports locally from nearby residents – and people on social media claim the shopkeeper was ‘stabbed’ in the neck during the robbery.

Witnesses report seeing a man, believed to be the shopkeeper with blood pouring from a wound near his neck.

Two crime scene investigation vehicles were outside the shop in the aftermath, officers in white forensic suits were seen inside the shop focusing on an area close to the main door, the window of which had been smashed.

Two police officers remained stationed outside the shop guarding the entrance.

By 11.30pm crime scene investigation officers had completed their work inside the shop and had left the scene of the robbery.

Outside the shop, several police officers with high-powered torches search the carp of the shop and surrounding bushes, shrubbery and over walls into adjoining gardens.

By 11.40pm all police had left the scene, the shutters were down and locked on the shop and police tape removed.
