Sam Rowlands, Member of the Welsh Parliament for North Wales, has welcomed two new bus services that will improve transport connections between Ellesmere Port, Deeside Industrial Park, and Queensferry.

The new 101/101A service, introduced by Arriva and supported by Cheshire West and Chester Council, ensures continued transport links for commuters and residents.

The 101A route runs eight times daily, including early morning and evening services to Deeside Industrial Park, with two journeys extending to Queensferry Crossroads.

The 101 route provides four daytime journeys between Ellesmere Port and Cheshire Oaks via Stanney Grange.

In addition, the new 6/6A service, operated by Stagecoach, was launched on 20 January in partnership with Redrow Homes and the Council. It provides half-hourly links from Ledsham Garden Village to Ellesmere Port and Rivacre, replacing the former E7 route and restoring services to areas that had previously lacked a bus connection.

Both services aim to improve connectivity and ensure key employment and residential areas remain accessible.

Mr Rowlands said: “I am delighted to see this cross-border service, which will be a great boost for all those who use this route, whether travelling to work or school on both sides of the border.

“These new services are especially welcome after Flintshire County Council withdrew the service, affecting the link between Ellesmere Port, Deeside Industrial Park, and Queensferry.

“I am pleased to see this vital service continue.”

Councillor Karen Shore, Cheshire West and Chester Council’s Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Environmental, Highways and Strategic Transport, said:

“We are working closely with partners to ensure the services needed by residents remain in place where possible. These new services will offer enhanced connectivity and convenience.”

The Council and transport providers will monitor feedback and consider timetable adjustments, with a review planned for April 2025. Timetables for the 6/6A service are available on the Stagecoach website, while details of the 101/101A service can be found on the Arriva website.
