North Wales Fire and Rescue Service has suspended its Deputy Chief Fire Officer Stewart Forshaw over a historic social media post allegedly linked to him.

Chief Fire Officer Dawn Docx confirmed the suspension in a statement released on Saturday evening, stating that the precautionary measure was taken while a full and fair investigation is carried out.

“I have recently been made aware of a historic social media post allegedly linked to North Wales Fire and Rescue Service’s Deputy Chief Fire Officer,” she said.

“Following an initial review of the post in question, I took the precautionary step yesterday evening of suspending the Deputy while a full and fair investigation takes place.”

The content and nature of the post have not been disclosed.

Docx emphasised the service’s commitment to maintaining “the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and trust” and stated that the matter would be handled with transparency and accountability.

“At this time, it would not be appropriate to comment further as we follow due process,” she added.
