North Flintshire Police hosts knife amnesty as part of Operation Sceptre
This week marks the national knife crime awareness initiative, Operation Sceptre, and North Flintshire Police is inviting residents to participate in a Knife Amnesty aimed at reducing the availability of weapons in the community.
The Knife Amnesty offers the public a chance to safely hand over any knives or weapons for secure disposal.
The initiative is part of a wider effort to tackle knife-related criminality and promote safer communities.
PC Harries, who is leading Operation Sceptre in the area, will be present at several locations throughout the week.
He will be available to receive knives, discuss weapons legislation, and address any community concerns.
The schedule for his visits is as follows:
- 11th November 2024
- 10:00–12:00: Jade Jones Pavilion, Flint
- 14:00–16:00: Outside the Shops in Mostyn
- 12th November 2024
- 10:00–12:00: Outside The Stag, Bagillt
- 15:00–16:30: Tesco, Holywell
- 15th November 2024
- 11:00–13:00: Holway Community Centre
- 16th November 2024
- 11:00–14:00: Asda, Queensferry
- 17th November 2024
- 11:00–13:00: Morrisons, Connah’s Quay
Residents are encouraged to visit any of these locations to safely dispose of knives and engage in open conversations about weapons legislation and other local safety concerns.
A spokesperson for North Flintshire Police emphasised the importance of the campaign, saying:
“This week is the national knife crime awareness operation- Op Sceptre.
“As part of this, the public are given an opportunity to hand knives in in the Knife
“Amnesty, where we will dispose of them safely, to limit the availability of knives and weapons for use in criminality.”
