New facilities open at Saltney based Neuro Therapy Centre ahead of national Parkinson’s Awareness Week.

The Neuro Therapy Centre was excited to open its new facilities this week ahead of national Parkinson’s Awareness Week.

The Centre has been working hard over the last six months to reconfigure its Centre building based in Saltney,  to increase its physiotherapy treatment space and develop a larger gym.

As part of the work a dedicated counselling room has also been created.

“We’ve had a fantastic reaction from our members this week when they have seen the new facilities,” said Jane Johnston-Cree, Centre Director at the Neuro Therapy Centre.

“We have increased the number of services we offer over the years as well as the number of people we support. These redeveloped facilities will enable us to be able to support more people with neurological conditions in the region.”

The facilities were opened by the Centre’s Trustees this week with an audience of excited members keen to try out all the new equipment.

The new physiotherapy suite has a number of treatment beds and specialized equipment to improve balance and movement and the new gym boasts an increased level of equipment including a new exercise bike, water rowing machine, and a Nordic cross trainer.

There is also some new group gaming software which will enable members to take part in group cycling therapy. Many of the Centre’s members even enjoy the opportunity to try out boxing in the gym.

The project was funded through support from Sport Wales, The Williams Family Foundation, Ursula Keyes Trust and MediCash.

“We’d like to say a massive thank you to all our funders and suppliers who have made this work possible.

It is going to make a huge difference to our Centre and to us supporting people with neurological conditions.

Regular exercise and physiotherapy can help people with long-term conditions such as MS and Parkinson’s manage the pain and fatigue they experience and also helps to keep them mobile,” said Jane Johnston-Cree.

The Neuro Therapy Centre supports people from across Cheshire, North Wales and the Wirral who have been diagnosed with a wide range of neurological conditions including MS, Parkinson’s Disease, ME, Fibromyalgia, Motor Neuron Disease; and Huntington’s Disease.

Parkinson’s Awareness Week runs throughout the UK from 10th April until 16th April 2019.
