National knife crime week of action starts in Flintshire South today

News and Info from Deeside, Flintshire, North Wales

North Wales Police are running a knife amnesty in Broughton and Buckley today as part of Operation Sceptre, a national week of action against knife crime.

A knife amnesty bin will be on Buckley High Street between 2.30pm and 4.30pm this afternoon, with PC Preece and PCSO Roberts taking in any surrendered knives.

PC Gregory and PCSO Cooney took the amnesty bin to Broughton Park earlier today, between 11am and 2pm.

In a Facebook post, the North Wales Police South Flintshire team said officers would be running high-visibility and plain clothes patrols in key locations across the week.

The team said it would also be providing further knife surrender opportunities, acting on intelligence to target offenders, and visiting schools and businesses to provide information on knife safety.

The team said in its post: “Today we begin Operation Sceptre in Flintshire South – this is part of a national week of action to help tackle knife crime.”

It added: “Please pop along to dispose of any knives and have a chat.”
