National Dance Company Wales will bring its new autumn tour, Surge | Gwefr, to Theatr Clwyd on Wednesday 8 and Thursday 9 October.

The programme includes three contrasting works from choreographers Marcos Morau, Osian Meilir and Faye Tan, with collaborations from leading visual artists and musicians in Wales.

Audiences will see the return of Waltz by Spanish choreographer Marcos Morau, first performed as part of NDC Wales’ Pulse tour in 2023. The piece has been described as visually striking, with razor-sharp movement and glittering costumes.

Infinity Duet, created by choreographer Faye Tan in collaboration with artist Cecile Johnson Soliz, will feature two dancers performing alongside a swinging sculpture. The costumes also include drawings by Johnson Soliz, with music by Cardiff-based sound artist Richard McReynolds.

The final piece, Mabon, is a new work by Welsh choreographer Osian Meilir. Drawing on the Mabinogion, it features eco-friendly animal costumes by designer Becky Davies and a new score from triple harpist Cerys Hafana.

“Marcos Morau’s movement style is mesmerising to watch. His work is really hypnotic and Waltz is a huge fan-favourite, so we’re delighted to see the return of this dramatic, compelling and exciting work this autumn alongside two equally vibrant works by Wales based creators Faye Tan and Osian Meilir,” said David Wilson, Interim Executive Director (& Joint CEO), NDCWales.

Osian Meilir said: “I’m thrilled to be sharing Mabon with audiences across Wales and beyond. I hope people will feel enchanted by this Welsh folklore and find an eagerness to know more about our rich culture, stories and language.”

The Surge | Gwefr tour runs across Wales and England from September to November 2025 before heading to Germany in 2026.

All performances will include Audio Description, with BSL interpreted shows in Cardiff and London.
