HGV driver arrested after collision with cyclist on A540 Parkgate Road
Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a serious collision involving a heavy goods vehicle and a bicycle in Ledsham.
The incident took place at approximately 4:15 am on Saturday 18 February on the A540 Parkgate Road, near the junction with Badgers Rake Lane.
The cyclist, a 39-year-old man from Wirral, suffered serious injuries in the collision.
He was taken to the Countess of Chester Hospital in an ambulance and is still receiving treatment.
The driver of the white Scania HGV, a 54-year-old man from Chester, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
He has since been released under investigation while further enquiries take place.
Cheshire Constabulary is currently conducting a range of enquiries in relation to the incident and is seeking to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has any information that may aid their investigation.
In a statement, the police said: “As part of their enquiries, officers want to speak to anyone who was in the area and witnessed the collision or anything else that may aid their investigation. They also want to hear from any motorists who believe they may have captured relevant footage on their dashcams.”
