Hawarden was the hottest place in Wales this bank holiday

Hawarden has recorded the highest August bank holiday temperature in Wales, the Met Office has confirmed.
The temperature recorded at Hawarden airfield hit 29.6C on today, making it the warmest spot in Wales during the late summer holiday.

Elsewhere in the UK, Magilligan in Northern Ireland reported a record 24.5C, while Ross-on-Wye in Herefordshire saw 29.3C, the highest in England.

The Met Office said last week that the summer was already on track to be one of the hottest on record for the UK, with four heatwaves declared.
However, the warm weather is not expected to last. Forecasters said the remnants of Hurricane Erin will bring rain and strong winds to parts of the UK from Monday night, with conditions turning cooler and more unsettled through the rest of the week.
The change is expected to bring temperatures down to between 16C and 19C by Friday.
