Hawarden High’s class of 2025 smashes exam results

Hawarden High School is celebrating another year of strong A-level, AS-level and BTEC results, with nearly half of all grades awarded at A*, A or B.
Headteacher Simon Budgen praised the resilience and hard work of the class of 2025. He said: “I am exceptionally proud of our students’ accomplishments this year. Their results are a testament to their resilience, determination and hard work, as well as the ongoing commitment of our staff and families. I warmly congratulate each student and look forward to hearing about their future achievements.”
Assistant Headteacher and Head of Sixth Form, Mrs Izzi Birch, added: “It has been a joy to support such a driven and capable cohort through their Sixth Form journey. Their impressive results speak to their talent and perseverance, and we are thrilled to see so many now progressing to top university courses, degree apprenticeships and employment opportunities.”
Notable individual successes include:
- Selena Bobeica, A*A*A*AA, going on to study Mathematics at the University of Edinburgh.
- Megan Brown, A*A*AA, heading to the University of Manchester to study Business Accounting.
- Laura Haden, A*A*AA, taking a place at the University of Liverpool to study Diagnostic Radiotherapy.
- Zak Ames, Head Student, A*A*AB, joining Airbus for a Business Degree Apprenticeship.
- Tamsin Parry, Head Student, A*AAA, progressing to Dentistry at the University of Liverpool.
- Imogen Lemon, AAAA, to study Conservation Biology and Ecology at the University of Exeter.
- Kefira Pitchford, AAABC, to study Archaeology at the University of York.
- Alexander Preston, AAAB, joining Bank of America on a Degree Apprenticeship.
- Romain Soffe, studying at University College London.
- Pippa Harrison, AAA, heading to the University of York for Film and Television Production.
- Eliza Smith, ABD, to study Mathematics and Accounting at university.
Flintshire Councillor Mared Eastwood, Cabinet Member for Education, Welsh Language, Culture and Leisure said:
“The Council is delighted to congratulate all post 16 learners in Flintshire on the hard work undertaken in achieving their results.
I wish them every success as they look to take on new opportunities for learning, whether that is taking up a place at university, starting an apprenticeship or training, or entering the world of work.
I also thank their parents and carers for their encouragement and support, and recognise the commitment of our schools in preparing their students for these examinations. “
Chief Officer, Education and Youth in Flintshire, Claire Homard, said:
“I warmly congratulate all of our post 16 learners on their results this year. Each young person can be very proud of their achievements, and I wish them every success in their future.
Today is testament to the hard work undertaken by Flintshire’s students. I want to also acknowledge the skill and dedication of their schools in working to ensure that students achieve their best results. I know our school staff will continue to offer advice and guidance to learners as they make important choices about their future pathways.”
