Former Mold Mayor, Councillor Brian Lloyd, has raised nearly £9,000 for local charities and community organisations during his year in office.

Councillor Lloyd officially concluded his term on 7 May 2025, handing over the mayoral chain to Councillor Paul Beacher for the forthcoming civic year.

During his tenure, he undertook more than 100 official engagements, including visits to local businesses and community groups. He also hosted the Mold Community Awards and remained an active member of the Mold Community Events volunteer team. The highlight of his fundraising year was the Mayor’s Charity Dinner and Dance at the Beaufort Park Hotel, which drew strong support from residents and businesses.

The funds raised have now been donated to four local organisations:

Mold Community Gardens and Clubhouse – £2,800

Daniel Owen Community Centre Association – £2,800

Mold Friends of Hope House – £2,800

3rd Mold Brownies – £295.93

Karen Hodgkinson, Manager of the Daniel Owen Community Association, said: “The Daniel Owen Community Association is a vital centre at the heart of Mold. On behalf of the Board of Trustees and staff, I would like to thank Cllr Brian Lloyd for the generous donation. Contributions like this are essential to our continued work, and it was a great pleasure to accept this support.”

Haydn Jones, Chair of Mold Friends of Hope House, commented: “As Chairman of the Mold Friends of Hope House, I would like to thank the Mayor for this kind and thoughtful donation. The funds will help ensure that Hope House can continue providing essential care and support to children and their families during the most challenging times.”

Angela Bebbington, representing Mold Community Gardens and Clubhouse, added: “We cannot thank Cllr Lloyd enough. This generous donation comes at a perfect time and coincided with our celebrations for receiving the International Green Flag Award for the second consecutive year. Over the past 20 years, volunteers have transformed the gardens and clubhouse into a thriving community hub. This funding will greatly support our future plans.”

Councillor Lloyd said: “It has been an honour to serve as Mayor of Mold. I’m incredibly grateful for the support from our community, and I’m proud that these funds will benefit such deserving local organisations. Mold continues to be a town full of generosity, spirit, and community pride.”
