Flintshire heating engineer reaches Screwfix final
A heating engineer from Northop has been named a finalist in the search to uncover the UK and Ireland’s top tradesperson.
Dean Jones, 44, has worked in the trade for more than 20 years and will now compete in the Screwfix Top Tradesperson 2025 final later this month.
He runs his own business, Jones the Gas, with the help of his wife and two daughters and employs three staff. Judges said he impressed with his passion and commitment to quality, trust and good service.
Dean regularly shares advice with other tradespeople on social media and says if he wins, he would reinvest the prize into tools and training for his business.
The final will take place at Screwfix Live in September in front of a panel of industry experts, including reigning Screwfix Top Tradesperson Mohammed Rahman, and representatives from CIPHE and NICEIC.
The overall winner will be awarded the title and receive a £20,000 prize bundle of tools, tech and training.
Dean said: “I can’t believe I have secured a place in the final of Screwfix Top Tradesperson 2025. Since I started in the trade many years ago, I’ve worked hard to hone my craft, so to be recognised and able to share my story with the judges is something I’m really excited about. Looking at the names of the other finalists, it’s clear there’s some great competition, but I’m proud to be putting Northop on the map and representing every heating engineer out there in my bid to take home the title.”
