Aldi has announced a pay rise for its store assistants, with wages increasing to at least £12.75 per hour from Saturday 1st March, ensuring it remains the ‘UK’s highest-paying supermarket.’

Those with longer service will see their pay increase further, reaching £13.66 per hour nationally.

The discount supermarket has also confirmed another pay rise for September 2025, increasing minimum hourly rates to £12.85.

Aldi says it remains the only supermarket to offer all employees paid breaks, a benefit worth approximately £1,370 a year.

Giles Hurley, Chief Executive Officer of Aldi UK and Ireland, said: “This latest increase recognises the important contribution that our colleagues make day in, day out and ensures they are rewarded fully for their contribution with industry-leading pay.”

The wage boost comes as Aldi continues to expand its UK presence.

The retailer was also named the UK’s cheapest supermarket by consumer group Which? for four consecutive years.
