Fireworks at Flint Castle raise crucial lifeboat funds
The night sky over Flint Castle sparkled with colour on Friday, 1 November, as Flint RNLI hosted its annual firework display, an event that helps fund the charity’s essential lifesaving operations.
The display, which drew enthusiastic local crowds, was organised entirely by RNLI volunteers who committed extensive time and effort to make the evening a success.
Flint Town Mayor, Councillor Mell Buckley, officially opened the event by lighting “Barbara’s Beacon,” a longstanding ceremonial torch named in tribute, which signalled the start of the festivities.
Shortly after, the first bursts of colour lit up the historic castle grounds, thrilling attendees and creating a festive community atmosphere.
Local businesses and organisations stepped up to provide support, both in terms of resources and ensuring public safety.
Among those lending a hand were the Flint Coastguard Team, North Wales 4×4 Response, Raynet, Flint and Holywell Rotary, Dee Communications, Grosvenor Scaffolding, Flint Football Club, and Flint Litter Pickers.
Their collective efforts helped ensure a safe, memorable event, and reinforced the community spirit central to Flint RNLI’s work.
Alan Forrester, Flint RNLI Fundraising Chair and organiser of the event, expressed his gratitude, saying, “It’s wonderful to see the community coming together to support such an important cause. Thanks to the commitment of our volunteers and the generosity of our supporters, the funds raised will help keep our lifeboats running and our crews ready to respond when they’re needed most.”
The funds raised during the event will play a crucial role in maintaining and equipping Flint RNLI’s lifeboats, as well as training volunteer crews who are ready to respond to emergencies at any moment.
With each ticket purchased, community members contribute directly to these life-saving initiatives, supporting the RNLI’s mission to save lives at sea.
