Fancy looking after rhinos? Chester Zoo is hiring

Chester Zoo is recruiting a rhino keeper to cover an 18 month maternity post.
The successful applicant will join the zoo’s rhino section, caring for eastern black rhinoceros, greater one horned rhinos and other species including Philippine spotted deer, roan antelope, Grevy’s zebras and Indonesian cattle.
The role offers a salary of £26,500 per year, based on a 40 hour week. It includes weekend and bank holiday work on a rota basis. The closing date for applications is Monday 2 September.
The zoo said the position is a key role within its professional rhino team.
Duties include providing high standards of animal care and welfare, maintaining enclosures, supporting veterinary procedures, giving medication and helping to deliver visitor experiences.
Applicants should hold a zoological qualification at HND or degree level, or have equivalent experience.
Proven experience with hoofstock species and enclosure management in a zoo or safari park setting is required. Experience of working with rhinos or category one species would be an advantage.
The zoo highlighted staff benefits including 33 days annual leave, a pension scheme, healthcare plan, complimentary zoo tickets, cycle to work scheme, and retail and leisure discounts.
Chester Zoo, home to 30,000 animals from more than 500 species, describes itself as the UK’s most popular zoo and a major wildlife charity committed to the recovery of endangered species around the world.
The organisation says it is focused on preventing extinction and contributing to global conservation at a time of crisis.
