Entries open for 2025 Safer Communities Awards

The Safer Communities Awards are returning this autumn to recognise the people, teams and partnerships working to make communities across Wales safer.
Hosted by the Wales Safer Communities Network, the awards ceremony will take place on Thursday 27 November at Aberystwyth University.
Nominations are now open, with categories covering Anti-Social Behaviour, Violence against Women, Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence (VAWDASV), and Modern Slavery and Exploitation.
Last year’s overall winner, Swansea City Chill, was a prevention-focused partnership that promoted intergenerational community engagement. Other 2024 winners included Gwent Police’s Serious Organised Crime team and Elizabeth Ward from the North Wales Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner.
This year’s event will be hosted by TV presenter John-Paul Davies, who began his career as a police officer in South Wales before moving into journalism.
Mark Brace, Head of the Wales Safer Communities Network, said: “Now in our third year, the Safer Communities Awards showcase the variety of great work taking place across Wales to keep communities safe. They shine a spotlight on individuals, teams and partnerships whose quiet dedication deserves recognition.
“We look forward to seeing this year’s entries and bringing colleagues together to celebrate the people and innovative thinking that makes change happen.”
Entries are open to partnerships, teams or individuals working in community safety in Wales. Nominations can be self-submitted or made by colleagues, with a closing date of 5pm on Friday 3 October.
