Drivers warned of delays as abnormal load travels through Flintshire

News and Info from Deeside, Flintshire, North Wales

Drivers in Flintshire are being warned of possible delays on Wednesday morning when police escort an abnormal load along the A55, A5119 and A548 to Gronant.

North Wales Police said the escort will set off from Chester Services at 8.30am on Wednesday 29 July.

The route runs along the M56 to Junction 15, onto the M53, then the A55 as far as Junction 33 at Northop.

From there the load will travel along the A5119 towards Flint, then join the A548, finishing at Shore Road in Gronant.

The destination is Presthaven Sands Holiday Park, the Haven site on the Flintshire coast.

North Wales Police said:

“Please allow extra time for journeys and use alternative route if necessary.”

Much of the route falls inside Flintshire. The A5119 carries traffic between the A55 at Northop and Flint, while the A548 is the main coast road linking Flint, Bagillt, Greenfield, Mostyn and Talacre before reaching Gronant.

The 8.30am start means the escort will be on the road during the tail of the morning commute, and drivers heading towards Flint or along the coast road may want to allow more time or take another route.
