The Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust has launched a new Zero Tolerance campaign aimed at combating abusive and threatening behaviour, to ensure that both staff and patients feel safe and respected at all times.

The initiative is part of the Trust’s ongoing commitment to creating a positive and supportive environment for everyone and emphasises that abuse towards its staff in any form – whether verbal, physical or emotional – will not be tolerated.

Abusive behaviour towards staff can have a significant impact on their wellbeing and the quality of care they provide.

The campaign sends a strong and clear message to patients, visitors and the public that respect is paramount.

Debbie Herring, Interim Chief People Officer said: “Our staff are here to care for, help and support patients, and they deserve to work in a safe and respectful environment.

“When our staff feel safe and valued, they are better able to focus on providing the high-quality care that our patients need for their recovery and wellbeing.

“We are thankful that the vast majority of our patients and visitors already show great respect and appreciation for our staff, and we are confident that they will actively support this initiative,” she added.

The Zero Tolerance campaign reflects the Trust’s efforts to build a work environment rooted in trust and respect, which has a positive effect on everyone in the hospital community.
