Council asks Flintshire residents to secure recycling in high winds

Flintshire Council has confirmed that waste and recycling collections are due to go ahead as normal on Monday, despite forecasts of strong winds.
The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for wind, which is active from 8pm on Sunday 14 September until 6pm on Monday 15 September.
Gusts of up to 80mph are expected in coastal and exposed areas, with 45-55mph likely more widely inland.
The strongest conditions are expected overnight into Monday morning, before easing gradually later in the day.
Residents are being asked to secure their recycling bags to prevent litter, and to place containers out on the morning of their collection rather than the night before.
The warning highlights a risk of:
- Disruption to road, rail, air and ferry transport
- Spray and large waves affecting coastal routes
- Delays to bus and train services
- Short-term power cuts and service interruptions
- Difficult conditions for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges
Advice includes checking travel plans, preparing for possible power cuts with torches and battery packs, and avoiding large waves or cliff edges if visiting the coast.
The Met Office has advised people to keep updated on the latest forecasts as warnings can change at short notice.
