Community projects benefit from Flintshire grant funding

A grant funding scheme which provides up to £10,000 for local organisations to deliver activities and events in town centres across Flintshire is proving successful.
Half of the funding available for 2025-26, secured through the UK Government’s Shared Prosperity Funds, has already been allocated to community-led initiatives.
Among the early successes is the Bikes in Bloom project, delivered by Refurbs Buckley. From 11 to 16 August, residents, businesses and community groups transformed repurposed bicycles into floral displays through a series of public workshops.
The week-long display culminated in a Summer Market on Saturday 16 August, hosted at Refurbs Buckley, where the community gathered to celebrate the project and enjoy local stalls, food and entertainment.
“Bikes in Bloom has been a brilliant example of what the Activities and Events Grant is all about — encouraging local creativity and bringing people together to make our towns more vibrant places to visit,” said Councillor Chris Dolphin, Cabinet Member for Economy, Environment and Climate. “It has been inspiring to see the results of what grant funding can do for a town centre in bringing it alive with such a unique project.”
The Activities and Events Grant scheme supports projects that bring communities together, add vibrancy to towns, promote well-being and enhance public spaces.
The scheme is administered by Flintshire County Council’s Enterprise and Regeneration Service as part of its 2025-26 Town Centre Investment Programme.
The grant scheme remains open to new applicants while funds are available. More information is available by emailing [email protected]
