Chester’s Pied Bull named finalist in Great British Pub Awards

A Chester pub has been named among the best in the country after reaching the finals of the 2025 Great British Pub Awards.
The Pied Bull, located on Northgate Street, is one of a select number of venues shortlisted for the Best Town Pub category, which recognises pubs that combine excellent service, atmosphere and a strong community connection.
The annual awards celebrate excellence across the UK pub industry, with categories covering everything from food quality and family-friendliness to entertainment and innovation.
The Best Town Pub award focuses specifically on establishments in urban settings that stand out for their hospitality and contribution to local life.

Organisers say the judging process is one of the most comprehensive in the industry, involving detailed written entries, in-depth interviews and mystery visits by experienced judges to ensure only the very best make the shortlist.
Winners will be announced later this year following site visits to each finalist.
The Pied Bull is one of Chester’s most recognisable pubs, known for its history as the city’s oldest coaching inn and for its in-house microbrewery.
