A Chester blogger is set to host a charity quiz at Chester Market later this month to raise funds for the Countess of Chester Hospital’s Extra Mile Appeal.

Richard Trotter, founder of The Chester Blog and well known for running the Sh*tChester social media account, will host the event on Sunday 28 September. Doors open at 5pm with the quiz starting at 6.30pm.

This will be his fourth charity quiz, following a successful event in June which raised £800 for local charity Platform for Life. Entry is £2.50 per person, payable in cash on the night, with all proceeds going to the Countess Charity appeal.

Alongside the quiz, the evening will feature live performances from Elishama Singer, who will perform Motown, Soul and Disco hits, and Boughton-based Poise Dance Studio. Artist Tim Foxon, known for his little red bike, will also be drawing “no look” portraits in return for donations.

A raffle will take place with prizes donated by local businesses including Picturehouse, Storyhouse, Chester Boat, The Scented Garden, Bookingham Palace, Euphoric Arts, The Pottery Rooms, Dandys, Cavani Menswear, The Brow Job, The Hole in Wand, Rainbow Tea Rooms, Curtain Up PR and Funky Cow.

Richard said: “I am looking forward to beating the total raised last time and have been blown away by the donations from the local business community as well as the performers giving their time for free.”

A spokesperson for the Countess Charity said: “We are incredibly grateful to Richard Trotter and the Chester Market Charity Quiz for supporting the Countess Charity and our Extra Mile Appeal. The funds raised will help us provide additional equipment and resources that go above and beyond core NHS provision, making a real difference to the care and comfort of our patients. Join us and go the extra mile for our patients, because sometimes a little extra makes all the difference.”

The Chester Market quiz in aid of the Countess Charity’s Extra Mile Appeal takes place on Sunday 28 September. Entry is £2.50 per person, cash only.
