Cheshire: A5117 Dunkirk Way reopens following serious collision

Update: Police have reopened following accident investigation work.

Previous Report: Police have closed the A5117 Dunkirk Way near to Costco following a serious collision.

The road is closed both ways from the M56 / A494 Bypass Road to the Backford Cross roundabout.

Cheshire Police Tweeted: “We’re currently at the scene of a collision on the A5117 in Dunkirk, Chester. Road closures are in place on the A5117 with closures on A41 roundabout, Capenhurst Lane & Chester Gates Business Park. Traffic trying to gain access to Costco is also being stopped.”

Latest traffic report states: “Road closed and queueing traffic due to serious accident on A5117 both ways between A41 Liverpool Road (Backford Cross roundabout) and M56 / A494 Bypass Road. Affecting traffic between Backford, Ellesmere Port and the M56.”

Location of the road closure

An air ambulance was spotted leaving an area close to the scene, it’s not known if its presence is related to the collision.
