Busy weekend of running for Deestriders athletes

Deestriders Running Club members were in action across the region and beyond during the weekend of 7–8 September.

At Harrison Drive multi terrain on Monday 9 September, Paul Lewtey was first club runner home in 31 minutes 51 seconds. He was followed by Christine Cammillare in 32:10, Michelle Bowes in 35:08, Fred Aird in 35:25, Joe Blackwell in 36:38, Amanda Scotter in 41:10, Andy Wainwright in 41:49 and Mike Norris in 42:28.

On Saturday, Debbie Parry completed her longest ultra challenge yet, the 47-mile Lap of Lake Windermere. She finished the hilly, muddy route in 15 hours 53 minutes 56 seconds.

Sunday saw Trevor Tommy and Ruth Jones take part in the Cheshire Half Marathon, finishing in 1:48:13 and 2:15:04 respectively.

There was also a strong turnout for Sunday’s SUPBikeRun event in the Lake District, which combined stand-up paddleboarding, cycling and running. For some Deestriders it was their first triathlon.

Christine Cammillare finished in 2:29:53, Paul Lewtey in 2:32:02, Sarah Brown in 2:51:22, Claire Harper in 3:11:41, Amanda Scotter in 3:15:18 and Jane Blackwell in 3:16:06.
